See, think, Wonder

See, Think, Wonder

Hi it’s Lexie,

Today I’m going to talk about the Aboriginal drawings and answer some questions; I hope you enjoy:)

What do I see?

I see a man with a spear in his right hand aiming for 2 animals by the trees. I see broken off twigs from the bushes and leaves scattered on the ground. I can also see a man in the background wearing a white dress.

What do I think?

I think the man in the picture is hunting down the animals. He is hiding behind the bushes and trying to sneak up on the animals. The animals look like they’re eating and exploring.

What do I wonder about this image?

I’m curious about what the other man is doing in the background. Also curious of what type of animals they are hunting. Their clothing is interesting too and what animal skin it mite be.

All About Me

Hi it’s Lexie,

Today I’m going to share with you just a little bit about me, I hope you enjoy…

My name is Lexie and a few of my favourite hobbies is reading, writing, cooking, listening to music and dancing. I love to read because it’s really relaxing especially if you’ve had a long day. I find that whenever I read a book I always doze off which is what I mean by relaxing you just forget about everything that’s going on and concentrate on the story.

Cooking is also very fun, it gives you something to do when you’re bored and the best part about it is you can always lick the bowl at the end of it weather you’re making cookies or cupcakes. I always thought my mum loved cooking because she did it all the time but it turns out she just does it because we live in a family of 6 and she needs to put food on the table…

All about my family…

I have 3 older sisters who I love, the eldest is 24 and she recently moved out but she visits regularly and we still have her bedroom downstairs that she uses when she wants to sleepover.

Her name is Eden and I think she loves our dog more than anything!

Then the second eldest is Elise she’s very funny and works 2 jobs she still lives with us. Elise is 21 years old and she loves to shop I don’t know why but it seems like a hobby to her. Then there’s Holly she is 16 and 1 of her hobbies is being a loud crazy teenager. She always plays loud music which is irritating but I’ve gotten used to it. Finally there’s me the 11 year old kid.
My pets…

I used to have 4 pets but we sold 2 of them it’s not that we didn’t want them it’s just that we couldn’t provide for them as much as the new owners are now. My sister Holly owned a horse his name was Xavier and she loved him to bits. He had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. I owned a pet goldfish that was 2 years old by the time it got sold. It got to the point that my dad was feeding him instead of me. So with that we sold him and he now lives with my family friend in a big pond. I have 2 dogs at the moment 1 is an Italian Greyhound (which is the smallest of its kind). Her name is Pippa she is 7 this year I think and she is adorable. Then we have another dog his name is Oscar and he’s a Jack Russel. He is older than me 13 to be exact and he is also very cute. I hope you enjoyed my blog post!

Library Reflection – Term 1

Hi,
It’s Lexie today I’m doing a reflection on Library term 1 and going to answer some questions I hope you enjoy…

The first question is, “What genre of books do you enjoy reading the most?”
I love family and friendship because it always seems to have a message in it; the story falls together with that message now every book is different because it has its own story it’s own plan you could say. It’s one of the reasons why I love it so much because you could read one book about bullying and another about a family break up both different but are still in the same genre. Why because it’s still about family and still about friendship but shown in different ways. They can be the opposite but still have that message revolving around family and friendship.

The second question is “Provide a suggested book within this genre.” Or “Why would you recommend this book?”

The book I’m currently reading is The Star Outside my Window it tells the story of these two children who are in a foster home at the moment. Noah is Aniyah’s little brother he is young and afraid of what might happen next which is the same with Aniyah she is only 10! Aniyah is determined to find her mum she believes that her mum is a star in the sky and that she can find her. You see she wants to be a ‘star hunter’ AKA an astronomer but the one thing I know about Aniyah is that she’s not giving up on her mum. I recommend this book because It has a great storyline and I really think you’ll enjoy it.

The finale question is “Which Book Chat book are you reading at the moment?”

I am reading the Crossover at the moment it is a poetic book that tells a story of these 2 brothers who share a love for basketball. When they move into junior high school they stop spending time with each other as much as they used to. Everything goes out of hand when they meet a girl called Alexis…

The book was a heartwarming story that filled me with all different emotions one moment I’m sad the next I’m happy. I definitely recommend this book if you are into poetry or something a little more challenging than your other reads.

Thank you for reading

Judging Information Books

Hi everyone,

Lexie here and I’m going to talk about the Eve Pownall books that as a year 4 class read. The book I chose was Our Birds by Siena Stubbs. I really enjoyed it because the pictures in my opinion were amazing! If you ever read Our Birds I can tell you that the photographs were incredible. What I also loved about it was how she described her indigenous background and why she loved birds. Her mum would tell story’s to her about birds; that were so imaginative that she wanted to go and explore nature a bit more…

What we had to do was get a piece of paper and record out of 10 what we thought about the visuals, layout and the information. I scored the visuals 10/10, the layout 9/10 and the information 8/10; my final score was 27/30.

I really enjoyed Our Birds and I think you guys will to.

Which book did you choose and why?
